If Lucius were to hear any comment about how the teenager found Malfoy Manor to be comfortable, it was possible that he'd instal spikes from the ceiling and on the chairs- that was if it didn't ruin the aesthetics. Malfoy Manor stood to be formidable and imposing to guests, and a comfort to the family. Luckily he was not privy to Regulus' thoughts and was therefore not offended or ruffled like one of his albino peacocks. His lips pressed into a thin line as the younger boy stated that Lucius was better-dressed then many people that he met and he scoffed. "How kind of you. This draws me to believe that you aren't spending time around the right sort of people, but that's something your mother or Narcissa can deal with." The Malfoy's prided themselves on their appearance, so it was no surprise that he was always dressed to the nines. His tone wasn't scathing but his words weren't kind. Regulus was the Black Heir, and therefore in Lucius' mind, he was supposed to present himself in the same way.
He nodded as Regulus suggested that he could come back later, "No, I have paused my activities. I was planning to have a bite to eat before I went back to my studies." He waved off the offer, offer a very brief polite smile, "Care to join me in the drawing room? Narcissa should be down any minute." It was his duty to host the guest, even if he wasn't welcomed which Regulus was. The Black Heir's presence made his wife happy and he was not one to deny her family. Sure, he was of the belief that Bellatrix and Andromeda were quite batty, but Regulus' mother had been quite sane so far. "You have come at just the right time, I assure you." he entered the drawing room and gestured to the comfy seats around a coffee table. "Can I offer you some refreshments? Tea, coffee, juice?"

Lucius' morning had been fairly quiet and he had spent the better part of the day in the library. The dusty tomes were spread out on the table in front of him as he scoured them for any tidbit of information. The Dark Lord requested that his current work in the Unspeakables be brought to him, but most of it was hidden away. He was searching for a spell or enchantment that could allow him to bypass the wards. It was possible for him to draw them out, but he couldn't keep them or take them home without the head of the department knowing that they hadn't been returned. He also considered using duplication charms, but the wards were just as strong, if not stronger, about duplication. As an Unspeakable himself, it made him uncomfortable to do but it was necessary. The wants of the Dark Lord were more important than his discomfort. He hadn't been given a deadline but it was obvious that his Lord expected something sooner rather than later.
The words were beginning to blur in his unfocused vision and he frowned, placing a bookmark in the one directly in front of him. He closed it with care, moving it to the side to pack up his notes. He could have lunch in the library, but if he were to drop some food onto the books, it could have devastating impacts. He was a very careful eater but there was no room for mistakes, so he rose to his feet. The books would be there when he came back unless one of them grew legs and ran away. He tucked in the chair, turning towards the door to head to the dining hall. Just as he was about to call out, a house elf appeared before him, tugging its ears. He frowned in confusion, "Yes?" He demanded, knowing that the elf couldn't have known he was about to call it.
"Noopy is very sorry, Master Lucius. Master Regulus is at the gate, sir."
Lucius scowled before recollected himself. He supposed it meant that it was time to come out of his self-imposed isolation. He vaguely remembered that Narcissa had mentioned that the boy was coming over. He just hadn't realised that it was so soon. With a longing glance at the books, he opened the library door and stepped out into the hallway. "Has he not realised that he can enter through the gates? No matter, I want you to fetch Narcissa and get her to organise lunch- if she hasn't already done so." It would explain why she hadn't already coaxed him out of his writing corner. He strode down the stairs to the door, expecting to have to traverse to the gates, whereupon he opened the door to find the young face of his wife's cousin. "Good day Regulus." His words were clipped and cool as he stepped aside to let the teenager in.
"It had slipped my mind that you would be here today, so please forgive my dishevelled appearance." Lucius certainly wasn't bedraggled, but he wasn't up to his usual standard of tidiness. "My father won't be here for lunch. I believe he is running an errand for his Lordship. Please do come in."

Lucius is the epitome of a pureblood heir; handsome, wealthy and ambitious. Most people see what they want to see when they look at him, and he does nothing to discourage this. He is not a kind, generous or emphathic man but he can certainly fake these traits. He is calculating and manipulative, nothing seems to stand in his way for getting exactly what he wants. This causes him to be quite spoiled, expecting that everything will go his way. He is passive aggressive and stroppy when things go wrong, blaming everyone but himself. His intelligence is one of his best attributes and it allows him to be quite a good social climber, using his family name and wealth to get himself in the good graces of high ranking ministry employees. It's in his nature to be slippery and hard to hold onto, with no cement loyalties until he knows that he's getting the best deal.
Despite his cruel demeanour, Lucius has a soft spot for his family. He is a loving husband and an obedient son. He is protective of their social standing as well as their wellbeing. All the love in his heart seems to be directed towards them and he makes sure that they are well looked after and content. He has a pride in his family name and will put his most into making sure that the Malfoy name is respected by the general public. Most of his actions can be lead back to his pride and arrogance but he is not easily blackmailed or manipulated. He is a master in such things, and as such, shouldn't be challenged unless one wants to lose. He doesn't bow his head to many, but he believes that the Dark Lord has the right ideals in mind and fill follow his father's footsteps in becoming a Death Eater.
[attr="class","nodensright1"]SUBJECT BACKGROUND
[attr="class","nodensright21"] [attr="class","nodensright22"]
1954: Lucius Malfoy was born into a family of affluence and prestige, first and only child of Abraxas Malfoy.
1957: Lucius experiences his first case of experimental magic, where he exploded a stuffed toy in anger. Abraxas was delighted.
1959: He is given his first lesson in dark arts at the tender age of five. He is terrified but intrigued, his parents hope to foster this curiosity.
1965: Lucius rides the train to Hogwarts, where he is almost immediately sorted into Slytherin, following the Malfoy family tradition. He is easily accepted into the Slytherin fold, being a wealthy pureblood with a lot of promise. His charisma and magic skills earn him favour with the upper years.
1967: Lucius' father is suspected to have a hand in the resignation of the first muggleborn Minister for Magic, but nothing is proven. The older Slytherin's are impressed by this, and he becomes part of their social groups.
1969: While at home with his father, Lucius received his OWL results and his prefect badge. He passed all of the tests with flying colours. Abraxas tells Lucius that he is proud, and they go out for a celebratory dinner.
1970: Once he returned to school, he took up all NEWT classes. He takes more of a notice of Narcissa Malfoy, who was a socialite worth her own merit. He achieves the high grades he needs to be part of the Slug Club and becomes quite a popular Slytherin.
1971: Finally, Lucius and Narcissa start to court. He didn't care about his girlfriend's jealous actions, knowing that she was a good match for him. She was everything he was looking for in a pureblood wife, and even better yet he actually enjoyed her company. He also takes the first year Severus Snape under his wings, seeing that he has potential in potions.
1972: Lucius graduates Hogwarts as Head Boy, with some of the best marks in the year. He doesn't immediately find a job but continues to court Narcissa. His own father encourages him to go out looking for a job, and Slughorn's connections allow him to get a job in the Department of Mysteries, somewhere he's always been interested in. In the summer holidays, after he graduates, he becomes a Death Eater with his father's blessing.
1973: Lucius proposes to Narcissa once she graduates, and allows her to take control of the wedding plans. He doesn't need to plan the specifics, he's just grateful to be married to a beautiful and strong pureblood woman. He is completely enamoured with her and the wedding goes smoothly as he expects it to.
1974: The honeymoon is brilliant as expected, but he must return home to his job and to his responsibilities as a Death Eater. He resumes his job as an Unspeakable, and works his way into the higher ranks of Death Eaters.
1978: With Narcissa's recent miscarriage, Abraxus has started to complain about not having grandchildren. Lucius isn't rushed to have children, although he is starting to truly want an heir if something were to happen to him in the war.
