"I understand completely. I never wanted an ordinary life either. I wanted something that could get my adrenaline pumping. Something where I could help out other people and explore. Something that was a challenge, but utilized the skills I was suited for." Caitlyn said.
"I fear that many have had their start at my own Hogwarts. Especially in my own house of Slytherin, which has an unfortunate tendency to attract blood purists. There's been many great Slytherin's who didn't go dark, Merlin for one. But part of why I fight dark wizards is to redeem a bit my old houses and my families past." Caitlyn said, taking a sip from her cup of coffee.
"I see. That makes sense. The more complex a working the harder it is to pull off. But is your intent to neutralize it? Or to work it towards a different purpose." Caitlyn said. Enchantment had never been her particular specialty, but she dealt often enough with enchantments during her work to know that the more straightforward an enchanted objects purpose the better it tended to work.
Caitlyn was curious as to what the Dark Wizards had been intending to use it for. A war was brewing after all, and information was power.

The world was filled with interesting people. That was something Caitlyn Fey firmly believed. And this one...was indeed fascinating. She disagreed with him utterly. His worldview was so filled with fear. He was going to hurt a lot. Feel a lot of senseless guilt and regret. And that made Caitlyn...sad.
"We are...very far apart on a host of issues. All I can really say is...I hope you don't spend your whole life cowering. It's a sad way to live. Scared to even touch someone because your afraid they might break. People aren't as fragile as you might think. I was a sad little bird with a broken wing too. In order to recover, someone had to set it. And that was painful. So someone had to kiss it better too. Ya know? I hope that made the slightest bit of sense. What I'm trying to get at is that you can't sit on the sidelines and pout forever. Your going to have to look at yourself, and then...well your going to have to celebrate your progress. That's how people get better, roughly." She said.
"Loyalty...it's a funny thing. With...the father of my child. With my husband. I could go all over the world, do all sorts of exciting people and fall into bed with just about anybody and tell him all about it when I got home. He would smile and tell me how beautiful I was to him, and how he loved me and how happy he was to have me as his wife. Sometimes on his trips he would fall into someone's bed too. For the first couple of years he apologized profusely when it happened even though we both agreed each other could do it....I was so proud the first time he could call me and tell me the story of his encounter without a thread of guilt."
"We were there for each other whenever we needed each other. We loved and supported each other no matter what happened, and we raised our son as best we could. I thought...all that was pretty loyal. Loyalty...it doesn't mean you have to love one person or confine yourself to physical relations with one person. That's just the animal brain telling us the genetics of our child matters. What's really important is love, support, a commitment of time and energy, communication, things like that." Caitlyn said.
"But your right. What's good for me isn't necessarily good for you. I just hope...you can be happy. And I'm glad you've tried not to judge me. Good evening." Caitlyn said and met the eyes of a waitress that was just getting off her shift. She glided over to her and put an arm around her hip, leading her out into the streets of London.
She certainly didn't regret meeting Mr. Lupin. Not that night anyway.

"Yes of course. You've done well for yourself. And at a young age too. Unless you're older then you look."Caitlyn said keeping up a friendly demeanor.
"Huh. Dark wizards have a marked tendency to desire conflict. Especially between more rational groups of people. Provoking a war between your enemies is a smart way to weaken both. Glad we were able to stop this." Caitlyn said. She tried not to frown. She hadn't been told any of this. Like any institution or group, the Ministry had factions. And this was...the other sides project most likely.
"Of course, that all makes sense. Perhaps I should have been a bit more clear. What alterations are you going to make on it?" Caitlyn said. The dear boy wasn't the quickest on the uptake. It seems he misunderstood her intentions in asking that question. Though she probably could have spelled it out a little clearer.

Caitlyn giggled. The energy of this kid could be quite infectious. But it didn't last when he began to talk about the artifact.
"Oh really...a disruption of communication. And this was a Ministry project?" Caitlyn asked. She knew the Ministry wasn't always on the up and up, but this seemed...strangely unpragmatic to them. What would they gain from seeking a communication breakdown. Unless they were terrified about coordination between Dark Wizard groups globally.
"How exactly did you alter it?" Caitlyn asked, it was possible the ministry was trying to use this to effect communication between cells of Death Eaters. That would be an intelligent move as an opening salvo. Caitlyn though felt...funny about this whole thing. Was that all this was to it? Using a dark artifact for this purpose seemed...a bit much. Even for them.

"That's a part of life though. Some people will make decisions they later regret, but as long as you make things clear, give them a choice...then you haven't done anything wrong. You can't walk around thinking you know what people want, making their minds up for them that they shouldn't know you. The women I slept with made a choice. They ignored the part of thier mind that said, "I can't do this, I'm straight", "My parents will kill me if they find out" or "I have a boyfriend" or whatever their concerns were and responded to what their body was telling them. When they woke up, satisfied of their urges, that part of their mind sprung back. Thing about regret is, you don't know what you'll regret doing and what you'll regret not doing until it's long over." She took a thoughtful sip of her drink after this.'
"You know when I was young I seduced a woman around my age. We slept together and afterward, she ran out of bed crying. Barely managed to put her clothes on. I felt awful, thinking it was something I'd done. Debated, as you might, If I had done the right thing. Later though, I ran into her. She was smiling and happy, came up to me and sincerely thanked me. Said she was about to become a nun before I slept with her. And that by doing so I helped her come to the realization it wasn't the right life for her. But it was painful to learn. That's why she ran out crying. It's really painful to grow sometimes Remus. But you really ought to try." Caitlyn looked him straight in the eyes during this.
"Fair enough. We all have things we're comfortable with and things we aren't. I like one night stands and open relationships and I hate monogamy. Feels like a lie. Pretending we aren't interested in other people. Pretending we can fully satisfy one another. I find one night stands a lot more honest then all that. Point is Mr. Lupin, lots of people have lots of different perspectives. As long as you give yours thought and it feels right to you, then you'll be walking down the right path." Caitlyn said, finishing her drink.
"Now Mr.Lupin, you just have to consider my offer. Don't worry, I'll be in touch. I have my ways. Now if you'll excuse me. I have another "regret" I'd like to make." Caitlyn said, her trademark smile inching it's way across her face.

Caitlyn smiled at his parting remarks. The boy was sweet. That was the reoccurring theme with him. Caitlyn headed into the Auror section to put out an "out to lunch sign" and tease her fellows while informing them she was going to be out for a while. Then she headed to her usual place.
She ordered for him and got herself a cup of coffee and a plate full of fries. She was wearing sunglasses, a bohemian looking dress and a big floppy hat. Her trademark smile slowly spread across her face as she saw Sala approach. She handed him his cup as he chattered. He was saying some interesting things.
"Chai tea. Or Masala Chai to be accurate. Might be a little cool at this point. Sorry. Wasn't sure when you were going to arrive. What were you saying? About the...thing you were sent to alter?" Caitlyn asked curiously. A dangerous artifact? What could this mean? Was this some sort of...weapon? She simply must know. But she kept her excitement under control. Didn't want to look too eager.

Caitlyn sighed. Self-hatred wasn't a good look on anybody. She should know.
"I know that's what you think you should feel. That it has been beaten into your head so hard you find it difficult to think anything else. Cast all that off. Easier said than done, I know, but you can't hate yourself. It doesn't do anybody any good. You think you are protecting your friends with these self-loathing thoughts, but your not. It is that self-hatred that is more likely to cause them to hurt than anything else." Caitlyn said. She wondered if his friends even knew about the depths of his hatred.
"Why not? Trust me, everyone's been someone's regret. You know how many times some poor confused girl has woken up chattering about how she really wasn't into women and how upset her parents would be after a consensual and mutual night of passion with me? A guy as handsome as you will have many-" She stopped suddenly. Caitlyn had an idea that was so brillaint and simple she had no idea why she hadn't thought of it before.
"...hey, you know what I have the perfect person that could...help you along a little. He's quite close to me. Expert in keeping it casual and He's around your age. Maybe just a bit younger. I think you two will get along famously." Caitlyn said, getting out a piece of paper to write down Remus Lupin. Not an easy name to forget but she had to make sure to look him up at the Ministry so she knew how to set him up with Willow. Her son could use a new partner, and this poor boy needed someone with a little life to him.
"Still I hope that we can keep in touch. As long as you are keeping things casual. My...friend won't mind sharing...you know." Caitlyn said, her voice growing low and seductive.
Then the waitress arrived with the food.
"Oh look a scrumptious dish has arrived. And our food." Caitlyn said as the waitress set the plates down.
"Th-thank you. You fl-flatter me." Molly said, as her blush grew quite extreme.
"You have done such an excellent job Molly. It would be a shame if I didn't hear from you after the meal." Caitlyn said, eyeing the woman much like a wolf eyes a particularly appetizing piece of meat. Molly...didn't seem to mind.
"N-not here. I-I get o-off shift pretty soon and then...We can talk." Molly said quietly.
"I got ya." Caitlyn said with a wink as Molly walked off.
"Too bad Mr.Lupin. It seems I've won this round. But don't worry. Love is a game everyone can win. You just have to learn how to play." Caitlyn concluded.

"Not everyone within the Ministry agrees with these methods. Not by a longshot. Maybe it is unredeemable, too corrupt to save. But I haven't done everything I could do to fix it yet. So until I'm satisfied that it can't be, I will continue to work for this ministry and lock up dark wizards. Because right now, that's what I can do, to make the world a better place. And I don't think Dumbledore's goals are incompatible with mine and many other Aurors and some Ministers. Collective guilt is a dangerous idea." Caitlyn said. She remembered that band of friends again. Snape hit low. If she was back at Hogwarts, she would have hexed him for that.
"An animagus huh? Well then, good luck with that. You know where your going, obviously, so I'll just let you get on with this. I'll get back to my work of kicking some puppies, knocking the cat's milk over and treating people lousy. Official Ministry business. You understand. Bye." Caitlyn said and turned and walked away. She hoped the little prick would get lost in the Ministry for hours.

Caitlyn took out a piece of parchment and wrote out some directions. Then she handed it off to him.
"Ok then, I'll see you in a bit. Guess I'll go put an out to lunch sign on my door." She said. Caitlyn gave him a hug and a kiss on each cheek.
"You take care of your business. Good luck on all that." Caitlyn said, and walked away. She would take care of a few things while he was busy, and depending on how this went, she might have to pester some of her fellow Aurors for information. Pretty soon, London may become a battleground so she felt it wise to enjoy herself before she might have to bunker down.

It was cute that he was being so considerate. It really was. It was also cute that he was taking initiative somewhat. Not that he would ever be able to keep that up, but it was amusing. A smile crept on her lips.
"I've got just the place. Don't worry about my plans, I tend to keep things as open as possible. If they need me then they know how to find me." Caitlyn said. She had skipped out because some beautiful person or whim had caught her eye on enough occasions that if she wasn't so damn good at her job they would have probably fired her.
"Anyway there's a wonderful little cafe just around the corner. We can pick up a cup of coffee or...tea? Sorry I've spent a lot of time in America and it's one of the bad habits I picked up over there. Or if you'd prefer I could skip to the part where I show you all the little shops and sights that London, Wizarding or otherwise, has to offer." Caitlyn said.

"Sweetie, sometimes people need other people's skills but still don't trust them and make them jump through hoops. Most of the time it is ridiculous nonsense, but that's just how things are right now." Caitlyn said. He reminded her of a little puppy. Cute, innocent, enthusiastic, and most likely not house trained. Caitlyn might have to domesticate him.
"Don't mind if I do." Caitlyn said, and took his arm.
"Can I accompany you? Or do you want to meet up somewhere later?" Caitlyn asked. She was quite curious as to where this location was and what this artifact could be. As a fairly high ranking Auror, she would most likely have the clearance to see it...but she hadn't heard of this object. Mostly they just assigned her to raiding the black market and dueling dark wizards, as that suited her temperament the best. Still she would like to know the strategy the ministry was taking in this war, if any.

The gall of this kid. Showing him his dark mark like that. Sure it was to "gain her trust" ostensibly anyway, but it still seemed like a power move.
"I don't know what Dumbledore's game is. No one does. Grindelwald didn't and that's why he's rotting in Azkaban. All I know is that good guys don't generally go around insulting and threatening their superiors for no good reason." She said. She backed away a bit, but only slightly.
"What's your purpose for being here, Severus Snape?" She asked. She needed to pump him for information. Caitlyn needed to be able to figure him out. This guy was going to school with her son and Dumbledore might be a damn fine wizard, but he played fast and loose and reckless. That tended to serve him well but sometimes it lead to setbacks and collateral damage in the short term..

Ah. That explained a lot. He reminded her a bit of herself, or some version of herself. That didn't have the Fisher King to help her along. She wondered where she would be without him.
Probably sitting sad on a bench in the middle of London.
"My mother...she was a lot like your father was. She had such plans for me. But she didn't care for me as a person. Only how I would advance House Fey. She would manipulate me and hurt me in a lot of different ways. But I was lucky. Because my Uncle Nick was there to step in and save me. He taught me not to care about what others thought of me. You can't wait for someone else to give you happiness. You have to find it in yourself." Caitlyn said. Of course the Fisher King had taught her much more then that. But she didn't need to tell him about his lessons on manipulation and social climbing. That would muddy the issue.
She smiled when she heard about the "doesn't have to be a woman" part.
"Of course. I understand. I would've liked to be more general but boys your age tend to be...in any case I know. Both myself and my son are pretty...open minded to all sorts of relationships. And I feel like you diagnosed exactly who you would need in a relationship. If your into it, I could find someone to give you a little...experience in relationships. It could be casual, simple. A way to ease yourself in. That way you can be more confident for...anything else that may come along. Again, I don't want to pressure you. Just letting you know the offer is there." Caitlyn said.
That was the signal that she would begin transitioning away from relationship talk. Food should be arriving soon after all. Maybe she could get the boy to lighten up a bit and flirt. Probably not though. In that case maybe...she could have the waitress for dessert.

What a little punk. She gave him the signature Caitlyn Fey smile, the one that makes people feel so very small. Then she began to get in closer, invading his personal space slowly as she began to speak.
"Ha. Cute. The whole tough guy act, it's really quite adorable. Not buying it though. Cause the thing is, it does look like you need help. I know your type. Bet you had a pretty shitty home life. Father beat you maybe. Mother was an alcoholic. Felt alone, neglected. Wanted to be special. Wanted to be loved. So some tall, dark, mysterious guy swoops in and says, "You are special and you are valuable. To me. But not to anyone else. All you have to do is follow my orders and you can have a real family." Am I on the mark with this?" Caitlyn said. Her hand was already close to her wand, just in case.
"Speaking of marks." Caitlyn said, and here she was real close, enough to whisper in his ear. "Did you get that cute little tattoo of his? Or is your "dark lord" smart enough to avoid putting it on his double agents?"
