[googlefont=Montserrat:700,700i|Open+Sans:400,400i,700] [attr="class","angelonfire"] [attr="class","aofSidebar"] [attr="class","aofBody"] Sure, there were rumors he was a Death Eater. Hell, he even had a dark mark. However, the ministry couldn’t get him on anything, seeing as they had no proof that he did something wrong. It was one of those things this new Minister had instated, after Malfoy had paid them off for it. Even still, Dumbledore had vouched for him, even though he wasn’t working for Dumbledore at all. That old fool. Then again, somehow, he thought it was fine for a Death Eater to teach potions, so that should be obvious. Voldemort had told him to take the job as a spy against Dumbledore, so he could be near him. Perhaps even gain some favor with the man. Either way, Severus Snape had not yet killed a person nor was he linked to any crime.
He could very easily walk into the Ministry, and while he would get looks, he wouldn’t be attacked by a hoard of Aurors. However, Severus Snape had no memorized the layout of the Ministry, hell he hadn’t ever been there before. He had been told where the visitor’s entrance was and how to get into the Ministry, but after the booth had landed, he was in a crowd of people, completely and totally lost. However, he didn’t let himself look that way. He walked with confidence. Proud, Severus didn’t want to ask for directions from the front counter and so he could be found staring at a complicated map his hand on his chin, and his other hand pointing at different areas.

Caitlyn Fey considered herself to be a fairly level headed person. Not prone to paranoia or delusion. Still she was also a cautious person. Someone that plans ahead. So she kept her ear to the ground regarding Death Eaters or potential Death Eaters. Just in case. It wouldn't due to be caught off guard. That's how someone ends up dead and she wanted to live a long time.
She especially took into account recent alumni of Hogwarts and anyone in that vicinity. After all her mischievous and too cunning by half son attended that prestigious institution as a Slytherin, and thus was in a bit of danger. Even if he wasn't an adventurous sort with the Fey family passions.
So she knew Severus Snape at a glance. Though for some reason Dumbledore trusted him to be a TA and here he was walking brazenly into the Ministry, he was a suspected Death Eater. Who was inhabiting the same school, same classroom as her son.
As a caring mother, she had to approch him.
"Hey there, need any help?" Caitlyn said, she made sure to approch the boy with a disarming walk. She wasn't questioning him, of course not. She was just trying to be helpful.

[googlefont=Montserrat:700,700i|Open+Sans:400,400i,700] [attr="class","angelonfire"] [attr="class","aofSidebar"] [attr="class","aofBody"] Severus raised a hand without even looking towards her. “Does it look like I need help?” He turned, dropping his hand and regarded the woman. Older. Probably old enough to be his mother. For a moment he wondered if she went to school with his mum. No, his mum had been probably about ten years older than this lady. Too bad. His name would have no weight with her. However, she could be a parent of one of his students. He wasn’t sure. He memorized his students’ names, not their parents. He rather not deal with the parents.
“Of course, if I did need help I would likely ask someone who doesn’t have quite that dumb of a look on their face. Are you sure you’re not the one who need help?” He raised an eyebrow, swishing his robes behind him. Mostly because they were in the way for him to put his hands on his hips like he did just afterwards. “It’s a dangerous world right now, you should be more careful who you speak to, they just… slip and ‘accidentally’ hurt you.” Now that wasn’t a threat. But it was. Boy, Sev, you’re obviously either very brave or very dumb.

What a little punk. She gave him the signature Caitlyn Fey smile, the one that makes people feel so very small. Then she began to get in closer, invading his personal space slowly as she began to speak.
"Ha. Cute. The whole tough guy act, it's really quite adorable. Not buying it though. Cause the thing is, it does look like you need help. I know your type. Bet you had a pretty shitty home life. Father beat you maybe. Mother was an alcoholic. Felt alone, neglected. Wanted to be special. Wanted to be loved. So some tall, dark, mysterious guy swoops in and says, "You are special and you are valuable. To me. But not to anyone else. All you have to do is follow my orders and you can have a real family." Am I on the mark with this?" Caitlyn said. Her hand was already close to her wand, just in case.
"Speaking of marks." Caitlyn said, and here she was real close, enough to whisper in his ear. "Did you get that cute little tattoo of his? Or is your "dark lord" smart enough to avoid putting it on his double agents?"

[googlefont=Montserrat:700,700i|Open+Sans:400,400i,700] [attr="class","angelonfire"] [attr="class","aofSidebar"] [attr="class","aofBody"] Oh boy. He stood his ground despite it being very uncomfortable with her being so close. His face remained stone cold, even as his brain began to whirl with different possibilities. She was somewhat on the mark, though he was very angry at the insinuation his mother was anything but fantastic. And of course the whole tall, dark, mysterious guy swooping in. It was actually Lucius who had swooped in and told him that essentially, told him about the Dark Lord. Things like that. So tall, yeah, but was Lucius dark? Hell, he wasn’t sure if Lucius could kill a guy. He was like a caged ferret who begged for food every once and awhile and never acted out in case he’d get slapped back.
“Don’t pretend like you know anything about my life. Currently? I’m working for Dumbledore himself.” He pulled up his sleeve revealing his mark on his arm. “This mark. This mark is the sign that I’ve gotten Voldemort himself to trust me. Do you really believe that Dumbledore would let me around students if he thought I was actually loyal to him?” Bluffing for the win!

The gall of this kid. Showing him his dark mark like that. Sure it was to "gain her trust" ostensibly anyway, but it still seemed like a power move.
"I don't know what Dumbledore's game is. No one does. Grindelwald didn't and that's why he's rotting in Azkaban. All I know is that good guys don't generally go around insulting and threatening their superiors for no good reason." She said. She backed away a bit, but only slightly.
"What's your purpose for being here, Severus Snape?" She asked. She needed to pump him for information. Caitlyn needed to be able to figure him out. This guy was going to school with her son and Dumbledore might be a damn fine wizard, but he played fast and loose and reckless. That tended to serve him well but sometimes it lead to setbacks and collateral damage in the short term..

[googlefont=Montserrat:700,700i|Open+Sans:400,400i,700] [attr="class","angelonfire"] [attr="class","aofSidebar"] [attr="class","aofBody"] Yes, it was completely a power move. As well as ‘gaining her trust’. Who in their right mind would show off their mark inside of the ministry? Obviously, him. No one else would – not even Lucius.
“Grindlewald’s defeat brought forth reform that without his rise would never have happened.” Severus raised an eyebrow and pulled down his sleeve, looking around a bit uneasily. After all, even with all that he was doing, if he was attacked by say, fifty Aurors, he would be fucked. “Good guys is a relative term. It may have escaped your notice but there are three sides to this war. And Dumbledore isn’t on your side. The ministry has suppressed the voice of the people, its become corrupt and rotten to its core. You’ve sent away, locked up people for things they cannot control. You’ve locked up people for simply being proud of their blood. You’ve locked up people because they have espoused their beliefs. Yet you don’t lock up those who hurt their children. You don’t lock up the fathers of abused children simply because they work for the ministry. You go after underage children who have used magic to defend themselves against muggles. Perhaps you should look at yourself first, and then you can determine whether you are truly a ‘good guy’.”
He knew that she was trying to get information out of him, but it was going to be in the record soon. Therefore, it didn’t really matter. “I’m registering to become an animagus. Get my intent license.”

"Not everyone within the Ministry agrees with these methods. Not by a longshot. Maybe it is unredeemable, too corrupt to save. But I haven't done everything I could do to fix it yet. So until I'm satisfied that it can't be, I will continue to work for this ministry and lock up dark wizards. Because right now, that's what I can do, to make the world a better place. And I don't think Dumbledore's goals are incompatible with mine and many other Aurors and some Ministers. Collective guilt is a dangerous idea." Caitlyn said. She remembered that band of friends again. Snape hit low. If she was back at Hogwarts, she would have hexed him for that.
"An animagus huh? Well then, good luck with that. You know where your going, obviously, so I'll just let you get on with this. I'll get back to my work of kicking some puppies, knocking the cat's milk over and treating people lousy. Official Ministry business. You understand. Bye." Caitlyn said and turned and walked away. She hoped the little prick would get lost in the Ministry for hours.

[googlefont=Montserrat:700,700i|Open+Sans:400,400i,700] [attr="class","angelonfire"] [attr="class","aofSidebar"] [attr="class","aofBody"] He rolled his eyes. “You can’t fix people. And the people in power are the problem.” He gives her a grimace before he rolled his eyes. He pulled out his wand and drew two lines. “Ministry’s goals.” He pointed to one. Then the other. “Death Eater’s goals.” Then he drew a squiggly line that went to both back and forth. “Dumbledore’s goals. They might line up in some instances, but not all.” He gave her a nasty grin and shook his head. “Anyone who condones evil is evil. It’s as simple as that.”
Well, she certainly was sarcastic. He did enjoy occasional sarcasm, but the disrespect? Yeah, no. He wouldn’t be polite to anyone, he said what he thought, unless he was faking it for his goals. Even then, he likely wouldn’t be polite. That was the key to being a spy – be yourself almost all the time, with just a few minor tweaks. No one would believe him if he just started acting nice. “Hopefully I never have to deal with you idiotic presence again!” Yes, he was lost, but damn his pride. He was not going to talk to her about where to go. He’d ask someone else if he had to.
